ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, CA — Two residential burglary suspects were arrested following a police pursuit that put Palos Verdes Peninsula High School under lockdown Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lomita Sheriff's Station.

Authorities told Patch that the incident began at around 12 p.m. when other police agencies were investigating residential burglaries in the area. A vehicle matching the suspect's description was located and police began a vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit was abandoned shortly after it began, a spokesperson told Patch, due to erratic driving. A short while later, residents reported a group of men exited the vehicle inside a neighborhood near the high school.

It is believed that the suspects passed through the campus while they were fleeing from police, authorities said.

The high school was put under a brief lockdown during the search for the suspects out of an abundance of caution, the sheriff's department said. Travelers were advised to avoid the area of Basswood Avenue and Silver Spur Road including Hawthorne Boulevard at Blackhorse Road while officers were at the scene.
