Rolling Robots VEX Teams Travel to Compete at Google HQ

Rolling Robots VEX and VEX IQ Competition Teams traveled up to Northern California this weekend.

Palos Verdes, CA – Rolling Robots VEX and VEX IQ Competition Teams traveled up to Northern California this past weekend to compete in tournaments hosted at Google HQ. This event was the Google VEX Tower Takeover Tournament, and Rolling Robots sent both their Middle School and High School Teams to compete.

Team 7700R, one of their High School VEX Robotics Competition Teams, won Tournament Champions, and was undefeated throughout the entire competition. This win qualifies them for the World Championship in April.

Team 7700R now has won Tournament Champion seven times this season, along with the Excellence Award – they are truly an excellent team. They are composed of kids ranging from grades 8-12, from many different schools and districts. The members are: Samantha Chang, Aaron Jung, Hannah Kalantar, Ethan Kurtz, Yvonne Lou, Sammy Socol, Sean Stassi, and Victoria Tomozei.

One of their Middle School Teams, 7700B, won the Judges Award at this tournament, and were all gifted Google Homes. The members are: Jahan Khatibi, Jaehoon Kim, Mathew Kwon, Avery Lam, Jason Lee, Mason Lee, and Annie So.

These achievements are the direct result of the hard work by each member of these teams. They have been meeting every week, working on designing, building, programming, and testing the team robot to prepare for these tournaments. Many team members have also participated in Rolling Robots’ after school workshops and summer camps, where they have learned about robot building, programming, and other skills, prior to joining the team.

The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest growing Middle and High School robotics program globally with more than 11,000 teams from 32 countries playing in over 750 tournaments worldwide.

Rolling Robots is a kids tech learning company with three locations in Palos Verdes, Glendale, and West LA. Here, children from local schools and homeschools in preschool through 12th grade learn STEM, robotics, and invention in after school programs, summer/winter/spring camps, robot building parties, and coding workshops. Children can join teams to participate in the VEX Robotics Competition as young as 3rd grade. By taking on the engineering challenge presented in each year’s game, Rolling Robots’ members learn hands-on engineering skills and practice critical life skills ranging from communication and teamwork, to perseverance and conflict resolution while simultaneously developing their passion for robotics.

If you are interested in learning more, Rolling Robots Middle School and Elementary School VEX Robotics Competition Teams are hosting an Open House Event at their Palos Verdes location to showcase what they do and to provide the opportunity for our community to experience robot building, and learn about the fun and advantages of being on a robotics competition team. There will be two sessions:
