PALOS VERDES, CA — May ended with a three-day weekend of relaxation for South Bay residents, and the summer months have officially started.

The week ahead is a busy one for South Bay residents, here are five things to look out for:

  1. Detectives at the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department said South Bay residents should be on the lookout for residential burglars. PVEPD arrested one suspect they believe is responsible for a string of burglaries throughout the South Bay. As the department's investigation continues, detectives are still looking for at least one other person who could have been involved in the burglaries but is still outstanding.
  2. City of Redondo Beach officials are looking for input for the 2023-2024 budget. Residents have until June 5 to give insight on what areas should be prioritized in the budget for the next financial year. Those interested in discussions about the budget can attend any of the four u[coming meetings on May 30, June 6, June 13 or June 20. To take the survey, visit this link.
  3. For those who like to support local farmers and enjoy fresh produce, this week's farmer's markets will happen on Tuesday in Manhattan Beach, Thursday in Redondo Beach and Sunday in Rolling Hills Estates.
  4. Due to rising cases of catalytic converters being stolen in the South Bay, Manhattan Beach officials are hosting a VIN and license plate etching event. Etchings on catalytic converters make investigations easier for law enforcement when they are reported stolen. Those interested can visit the Kinecta Federal Credit Union at 1440 Rosecrans Ave. in Manhattan Beach from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 3.
  5. See's Candies will be opening up a brand new store at the Peninsula Shopping Center in Rolling Hills Estates on June 3. To celebrate, there will be a grand opening ceremony with words of welcome from city officials and a ribbon-cutting. Visitors to the store will be able to get free gifts with purchases of $35 or more and the first 50 customers in line will receive a special gift.

Have a good week South Bay!
