South Bay CPKs Hosting 'Pizza With A Purpose' For Fallen Officer

The event, organized in honor of Ronil Singh, will be held at all California Pizza Kitchen locations across the state on Wednesday.

PALOS VERDES, CA – A fundraiser scheduled Wednesday at the California Pizza Kitchen locations in the South Bay will pay homage to slain Newman police corporal Ronil Singh. The 33-year-old officer was killed during a suspected DUI traffic stop in December, according to officials. On Jan. 30, "Pizza With a Purpose" will be held in his honor at all CPK locations across the state.

The day after Christmas, Singh initiated a traffic stop at Merced Street and Eucalyptus Avenue and reported "shots fired" over the radio moments later, according to Stanislaus County deputies.

Singh, who had been with the agency since 2011, was found at the scene with gunshot wounds and died at a hospital. He was a husband and father of a 5-month-old son.

The accused shooter, Gustavo Perez Arriaga, and seven accused accomplices were arrested days later following a massive statewide manhunt, according to authorities.

Those interested in participating in the fundraiser must print the flyer and bring it to the restaurant. Twenty percent will be donated from each check. All proceeds will benefit Singh's family, according to the flyer.
