Fall celebrations are the highlight of the spooky season and the Palos Verdes area is teeming with events for the whole family to enjoy.

PALOS VERDES, CA — Fall is a great time to get outside in California and take in the rich offering of festivals.

The changing colors of autumn provide a scenic background for fall and harvest festivals, which have contests ranging from apple bobbing and pumpkin carving to lumberjack contests and Halloween parades.

Fall is also the season for corn mazes, pumpkin patches, Oktoberfests, scary Halloween celebrations and apple orchard visits.

Here are three festivals and events in the Palos Verdes area worth putting on the calendar:

  • Rancho Palos Verdes Harvest Festival
    • Visitors of the festival can enjoy live music, arts and crafts, inflatables, face painting and caricatures and dessert and food vendors to celebrate the fall season in Rancho Palos Verdes.
      The festival will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center.
