RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Golf legend Tiger Woods continues to recover from a single-vehicle crash in Palos Verdes that left him seriously injured and declined an offer to broadcast from the 2021 U.S. Open this week, according to Bleacher Report.

"He didn't want to do it, and I totally understand his situation," Dan Hicks of NBC Sports said. "There is a lot going on in his world right now and there's also a part of Tiger that doesn't want to become this, I don't want to, for lack of a better word, a sideshow at an event where we should be concentrating on what's happening."

Woods drove up to 87 miles per hour before crashing into a median and flipping his SUV near the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in the morning of Feb. 23, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

No evidence of any impairment was found, L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.

Woods drove from 84 to 87 mph and struggled to negotiate the curve of the roadway, which is a problem area for local drivers, the department said. He crashed into a tree at a speed of 75 mph, the department said.
