PALOS VERDES,CA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Austin Jones has recently competed in the Fall 2022 Varsity Cross Country State of California State Championships where his team finished in the top 5 of all California Teams. He has consistently over-achieved in High School Lacrosse in his position as Attack. He is a Kukkiwon certified 1st degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and is going to be testing for his 2nd degree Black Belt in Winter 2023. He is a straight 'A' student in high school with honors and AP classes. In addition to all his responsibilities in school & sports, Austin also teaches Martial Arts / Self-defense to kids in Culver City, California. Austin is also organizing a trip of high school Lacrosse players on a service trip to visit an impoverished community in Columbia this summer 2023. The trip will complete work projects as well as introduce the sport of Lacrosse to very low income kids in Columbia. Austin is collecting Lacrosse equipment to donate to the kids in Columbia.
