RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Accelerated movement in the Portuguese Bend landslide complex caused structural damage to the iconic city treasure Wayfarers Chapel.

Over the past several months, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes has been in contact with staff at the national landmark regarding the impacts of the landslide complex. Just last week, chapel officials requested an inspection from the City.

According to inspectors, damage and signs of movement were seen at the chapel, but no structures were yellow or red-tagged. Due to the findings, the Wayferer's Chapel Board of Directors chose to close the chapel and grounds to the public while repairs are made.
