Chemical Mixing Prompts Evacuation, Hazmat Response In Pasadena

An apartment building was evacuated Monday morning as authorities investigated an incident related to a person mixing chemicals.

PASADENA, CA — An apartment building near Caltech was evacuated Monday morning as authorities investigated an incident related to a person mixing chemicals, city officials said.

Traffic is expected to be impacted on Del Mar Boulevard between Mentor Avenue and Wilson Avenue for several hours, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.

The incident was reported at around 6:15 a.m. on the 900 block of East Del Mar Avenue. Hazardous-materials crews responded to the scene, according to city officials.
