LOS ANGELES, CA — After two sweltering days of temperatures in the upper 90s, Thursday will be significantly cooler along the coast. The San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, however, will still be hot, according to the National Weather Service.

A strong sea breeze is expected to drop temperatures by about 10 to 15 degrees lower Thursday, but temperatures will still be about 8-12 degrees above normal, said National Weather Service meteorologist Kristen Stewart. The valleys will remain in 90s, she added.

The NWS forecast sunny skies in L.A. County Thursday and highs of 79 in Avalon, on Mt. Wilson, and at LAX; 84 in Long Beach; 88 in Downtown L.A.; 91 in Burbank; 92 in San Gabriel; 93 in Pasadena and Saugus; 96 in Woodland Hills; 97 in Lancaster; and 98 in Palmdale. Thursday's high in downtown L.A., which forecasters regard as part of the coastal zone, will be 8 degrees cooler than Wednesday, while Woodland Hills will be 4 degrees lower. Temperatures will decline Friday -- 10 degrees in several communities -- and slightly more over ensuing days, settling at a high of 79 in Downtown L.A. Wednesday and 85 in Woodland Hills.
