PASADENA, CA — Starbucks wants to build a solar-powered location in Pasadena, but the chances of it happening are cloudy at best, according to the Pasadena Star News.

The proposed location would also include a drive-thru and be built in the 3300 block of E. Foothill Blvd., near an El Torito restaurant. Officials say that café would also be near an L Line Metro stop in a "transit-oriented district," the Star News reported.

That means businesses in a district would ideally serve pedestrians and people taking public transit, not drivers grabbing a coffee from their cars.

Transit-oriented districts also have a prohibition against businesses with drive-thrus, city officials said.

Starbucks would need to have city officials amend its zoning if the café has any chance of being built, according to the Star News.
