Flora Fire Burning In Sonoma County

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A vegetation fire burned 50 acres Wednesday east of Healdsburg in the Geyserville area of Sonoma County.

The Flora Fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. near the 12000 block of Chalk Hill Road. Crews with Cal Fire and Northern Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, and Sonoma County fire districts responded and contained the fire on the west side of Chalk Hill Road.

As of 6:20 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire on the east side of the road was still actively burning at a moderate rate of spread.

Cal Fire announced at 7:15 p.m. that the Flora Fire was 35 percent contained and that crews had stopped the blaze's forward progress.

"Crews will remain in the area into the evening working on increasing containment and extinguishing hot spots," Cal Fire said.

Chalk Hill Road remained closed from Spurgeon Road to the south and Flora Road to the north.
