Petaluma Election Results For Mayor, City Council Races

PETALUMA, CA — The polls closed at 8 p.m. here in Petaluma, with voters choosing a mayor and three city council members. In addition, there were California and federal races, along with seven statewide propositions on the ballot.

There were 304,017 registered voters in Sonoma County as of Oct. 24, with 56.80 percent registered as Democrats, 18.76 percent choosing no party preference, and 17.34 percent registered as Republicans.

In the race for Petaluma mayor, Kevin McDonnell was in the lead with 56.62 percent (5,991 votes), according to the second round of unofficial Election Night results from the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters. In second place was D’Lynda Fischer with 23.78 percent (2,516 votes); Patrick Flower had 11.77 percent (1,246 votes) and Susan Kirks garnered 7.83 percent (829 votes), the early results showed.

Janice Cader Thompson led the race for Petaluma City Council District 1 with 68.01 percent (1,061) while Dylan Lloyd garnered 31.99 percent (499 votes), early results showed.

John Shribbs led the race for Petaluma City Council District 2 with 52.89 percent (914 votes), the second round of unofficial Election Night results showed. In second place was David Adams with 40.45 percent (699 votes). In third place was Bobb Kosoff with 6.66 percent (115 votes).

In the race for Petaluma City Council District 3, early results showed Karen Nau led with 38.27 percent (525 votes), John Hanania was in second place with 34.91 percent (479 votes) and Robert Conklin was in third place with 26.82 percent (368 votes).

In the race for Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools, Amie Carter appeared to be leading with 73.12 percent of votes( 52,308 votes) compared to 26.88 percent of votes (19,225 votes) garnered by Brad Coscarelli.
