Thanks to the generous donations Meals on Wheels Diablo Region received from their “fan club”, this summer will be cooler for many of the vulnerable seniors they serve. With the National Weather Service frequently issuing excessive heat warnings in Northern California, the fans came in when needed the most.

MOW Diablo Region asked the community to join “The Fan Club” by donating a new fan to seniors. More than 60 fans were donated and are being delivered to clients who do not have air-conditioning. "The public stepped up in a big way," says Caitlin Sly, Executive Director. "Heat-stroke is extremely serious, especially for older adults. Even in the absence of air conditioning, a fan provides relief in a potentially dangerous situation."

As we head into fire season, MOW Diablo Region is now asking for donations of air purifiers for the people they serve with respiratory issues. Donations can be sent directly to Meals on Wheels Diablo Region through Target, Amazon, or any other online retailer or dropped off in person at 1300 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek, between the hours of 9am - 4pm, Monday through Friday.
