MOW Diablo Region Executive Director Elected to MOWCA Board

Caitlin Sly, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels Diablo Region has been elected to the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels of California (MOWCA). MOWCA represents California Meals on Wheels member organizations to create a unified voice for nutrition providers. MOWCA works to broaden the impact of programs across the state in order to improve the lives of seniors, adults with disabilities, and their families. In her role on the Meals on Wheels California board, Caitlin will work closely with other board members to advocate for policies that will benefit senior nutrition programs that keep California seniors healthy and safe.

Caitlin brings extensive leadership experience to the MOWCA Board as the Executive Director of MOW Diablo Region, as well as her former work as the Program Director of the Food Bank Contra Costa and Solano. She also serves on the Walnut Creek and Concord Chambers of Commerce Boards and served as Chair of the Contra Costa CalFresh Partnership.

"It is an honor to be named to the board of Meals on Wheels California. I look forward to contributing to the organization's mission and continuing the vital work it provides," says Caitlin.

This appointment comes as Meals on Wheels Diablo Region has seen a significant increase in seniors needing delivered meals and services. Under Caitlin's leadership, MOW Diablo Region has been delivering to 40% more seniors since the pandemic began and that number will not decrease. She has also helped develop new programs like the Breakfast Bag and the Grocery Bag programs, and the Friendly Helper program to meet increased needs of vulnerable elders.

"We have been very proactive during Covid-19 expanding deliveries and meeting the needs of the seniors we serve. I look forward to working on a state level with MOWCA to have a larger impact on the lives of older adults in California," concludes Caitlin.
