A recent article in the Contra Costa Times reported that the majority of the USA Men’s and Women’s Water Polo team members are from California. Moreover, the Women’s team is made up of a majority of players who got their start in the Northern California, and many on local Bay Area clubs. Triton Aquatics has been established to carry on the tradition of developing athletes interested in playing Water Polo. Who knows, the next generation of Olympic water polo players might be playing with Triton Aquatics.
Enrollment is open now at tritonaquatics.com for girls ages U12-U16; the boys team is open to U10-U12-U14. The Fall Season begins on August 23rd and runs through November 8th.Teams meet at Ohlone College Pool Monday through Friday from 6:30-9:30 pm*. Triton offers a comprehensive flex training program that features water polo skill building three days a week and swimming on two days. The teams are led by experienced coaches who strive to help each athlete to achieve the highest skill level possible. Team members participate in scrimmages with local teams and weekend tournaments. All Triton teams will be participating in the KAP7 Tournament held in November in Southern California.
Are you not sure water polo is the sport for you. Or you feel you need to improve your skill level before joining a team, sign up for an Introduction to Water Polo session. The sessions teach the basic water polo skills, rules, and game strategy. Six-to-ten-year-olds interested in playing water polo can do so by signing up for a four weeklong Splash Ball program. The emphasis is on developing skills like swimming, passing, and teamwork. But most important is having fun playing water polo in a low-pressure atmosphere!
