PLEASANTON, CA — A hiker at Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park got quite the surprise Monday morning when he spotted four mountain lions running along the Courdet Trail, according to an ABC7 report.

Dovar Desancic sent ABC7 a video of four lions galloping along the trail at around 6:15 a.m. Monday. It appears that three juveniles were following their mother. They don’t stop at any point. Desancic said he was about 500 feet away from the lions, and didn’t feel threatened by them.

East Bay Regional Parks, California Fish and Wildlife, and Pleasanton police all told ABC7 that they were aware of mountain lions in the park, but were not aware of any families.

If you see a mountain lion, stay calm and back away. Do not approach them, or run from them. If they move toward you, try to appear intimidating by raising your arm, and speaking in a loud voice.
