Pleasanton Student Receives Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award
Foothill freshman Vatsal Srivastava was honored for over 100 hours of community service working with the homeless, preschoolers, and more.
PLEASANTON, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Volunteered: St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda county - Oakland helped in the kitchen preparing food for homeless and less fortunate and helped serve hot meals in the dining room. Coach at Foothill high school Mathcounts club, guiding middle-schoolers in challenging math concepts. It’s a weekly after-school coaching session held for Hart middle schoolers. Teaches preschoolers at Brave Church preschool. Read story books and tell them stories on important concepts.
