Bridge on 241 Attracting Lots of Attention After Jump

Less than a week after a man jumped to his death off the Upper Oso Reservoir Bridge on the 241 toll road, there were two calls to law enforcement about copycats.

On Tuesday, a woman appeared to be contemplating a jump after pulling her car to the center median, according to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

According to the report, the woman had stopped on the northbound 241, a few hundred yards beyond the Rancho Santa Margarita city limits and the Los Alisos on-ramp. 

The informant said she feared the woman would jump from the nearby bridge, which has a height of at least 93 feet, as determined in a suicide on Jan. 15. 

When law enforcement contacted the woman, she told deputies she was not contemplating a suicide leap, but had lost her cell phone.  

The call was made Tuesday, 11 a.m.

That incident took place about 16 hours after another search began after a man wearing a red hoody was spotted on the bridge. Neither sheriff deputies nor CHP were able to locate the man, nor was a body found under bridge by helicopter.

That call was made Monday, 6:45 p.m.
