RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Cindy Vallone who nominated Kendall of Rancho Santa Margarita.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Kendall is an honor roll student, National Honor Society Member, two-time Tesoro Torch of Excellence award winner and a fourth-year member of the Saddleback Valley chapter of National Charity League, a mother-daughter philanthropic/leadership organization serving our local communities. Within National Charity League, Kendall has served in many roles on her class Board, been recognized with the prestigious Rianna Woosley Award for leadership, and has served 484 hours so far. Each year, Kendall picks a social cause that she wants to focus her volunteer efforts towards. From her first interaction with those in need, Kendall has felt strongly that addressing food insecurity is her calling.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Kendall is a fierce advocate who will always find a way to help. Through National Charity League, Kendall has recognized that one person CAN make a difference and does so with creativity and compassion. This year, she baked over 2000 cookies for the Norman P. Murray Senior Center for the Senior Citizens who receive meals there. As Kendall continues her education and work towards her college applications, she hopes to combine her love for helping others with her ambitions of addressing social issues like hunger on a global scale.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Kendall!
