LAWNDALE — Starbird, a chicken favorite from the Bay Area, opened its first pop-up kitchen in the SoCal this month. But that's just the beginning.

The location in the South Bay is the eleventh location in California and the first in the Los Angeles area, the company told Patch.

Starbird launched in 2016 and is known for hand-crafted, feel-good crispy chicken and bold flavors. From salads to chicken sandwiches, the pop-up kitchen offers options for any dietary restrictions.

“One of our biggest motivators for Starbird is elevating the customer experience through the quality of the food and customer experience,” said Aaron Noveshen, founder and CEO of Starbird.

“Our bold flavors and unique menu options have quite literally swept our current customers off their feet and is part of the reason Starbird has been such a success in Northern California," Noveshen said. "We believe that the brand’s tech-enabled convenience and vast menu of feel good, crispy chicken, plant-based vegetarian alternatives and flavors will also resonate with our new Southern California guests.”

Starbird is rolling out a limited menu at the location, which will be available from 10:30 a.m. until menu items are sold out each day. The exclusive menu trial in the South Bay will showcase a sampling of Starbird’s fan favorites, including Starbird’s Szechuan Hot Sandwich beginning in March for a limited time only.

The company also plans to expand across west Los Angeles in 2022 with pop-up locations in Koreatown and Santa Monica in spring. Other streetside locations are slated for Hollywood and Marina del Rey. A Hermosa Beach location is expected for early summer.

Starbird's chicken is antibiotic-free, hand-breaded in gluten-free flours and spices, and served with Starbird’s nine tasty, homemade sauces. The menu features crispy tenders, hand-chopped salads, wings, vegetarian and plant-based Gardenbird, all with a choice of homemade flavors and sandwiches served on house-baked rolls.

People can check out the location and get the first meal free by adding their email address at starbirdchicken.com/southbay. The pop-up will also offer contactless delivery and pick-up via its website, app, and other delivery companies.

The new pop-up is open for delivery Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
