Chez Melange Hosts Annual Boxing Day Celebration

REDONDO BEACH, CA – Chez Melange, led by owner and London-native Michael Franks, is hosting a traditional Boxing Day celebration on December 26 at 5:30 p.m.

The tradition of Boxing Day is said to have started as a day of celebration for servants who worked for their masters on Christmas Day, the Chez Melange press release said. December 26 was the day servants were able to celebrate with their own families, get the day off work, and they were often given boxes from their masters containing money, leftover food and other gifts to show their appreciation, hence the name "Boxing," the press release said.

Chez Melange's 8th annual Boxing Day celebration will include a special dinner service complete with traditional British eats and drinks.

The menu highlights include:

• Pimm’s Cup Pimm’s No 1, Muddled Seven Up, Fresh Fruit
• Rebecca’s Pink Gin Gates of London Gin, Bitters, Splash of Cranberry Juice, Sweet/Sour
• Old Speckled Hen Cream Ale, Moreland, England,5.2% abv.

Food:

• Scotch Eggs 8.
• Shrimp Cocktail, Marie Rose 12.
• Roast Prime Rib ,Yorkshire Pudding and the Trimmings 34.
• Fish and Chips 18.
• Chicken Tikka Masala 21.
• Indian Shepherds Pie 16.
• Sticky Toffee Pudding 8.
