Creamistry Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Coming To Redondo Beach

Billowing smoke and endless combinations make this made-to-order ice cream look like a sweet science experiment.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – Creamistry, a chain that specializes in liquid nitrogen ice cream, is set to open in Redondo Beach in September. The made-to-order treats use organic ingredients, with more than 60 flavors and toppings, Creamistry said.

It will be located at 417 N. Pacific Coast Highway Suite 101 and will be owned and operated by Rafiq and Aneela Velji, who ultimately plan to open at least three locations total in the area over the next several years, according to the press release.

“We’re thrilled to bring Creamistry to Redondo Beach,” Rafiq Velji said. “We're confident that the Redondo Beach community will fall in love with our delicious ice cream.”

Customers start by choosing a portion size and an ice cream base (premium, organic, vegan coconut, or non-dairy sorbet), and then picking one of more than 30 flavors before picking toppings from a list of more than 35 options including candy, cookies, cereal, fruits, and sauces.

The ice cream is made right in front of the customer with lots of billowing smoke due to the flash-freezing process, the press release said.

"When the liquid nitrogen (-321° F) hits the base, it freezes so fast that ice crystals don't have a chance to develop, resulting in a decadently rich and luxuriously creamy ice cream with virtually no overrun," according to Creamistry.

The Veljis have owned and operated multiple fine jewelry shops throughout the community, with 21 years of the entrepreneurial experience. The couple now looks to expand their business portfolio with the opening of their first Creamistry location.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Rafiq and Aneela to the Creamistry team,” Founder Jay Yim said. “They will play an instrumental role in further establishing our brand in the local marketplace.”
