Free PCR COVID Tests: Where To Find Tests Near Redondo Beach

Libraries across LA County will offer free PCR test kits and results as Angelenos prepare for another possible mask-wearing mandate.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Angelenos can pick up free PCR test kits at some Los Angeles County libraries as the region faces a potential mask mandate.

The county saw a sharp upturn in COVID-19-related hospital admissions in early July as the highly contagious BA.4 and BA.5 variants spread, according to Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer. On Thursday, the county had an average daily admission rate of 8.4 per 100,000 people, inching closer to the necessary 10 per 100,000 to trigger the indoor mask-wearing mandate.

Some 14 libraries across Los Angeles County will offer sidewalk pickup locations for PCR testing kits and results. To secure a free test, residents need to reserve their testing kit online ahead of time here and pick a time and place for pickup. The pickup locations are:

Results will be provided digitally after the test is self-administered. Residents will receive their results within 24-48 hours after returning their test to a designated site. Testing kits should be used within 3-5 days. Residents can request up to eight testing kits for pickup.

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services partnered with COVID-19 test provider Fulgent Genetics and the Los Angeles County Library to offer these tests free of charge.
