Bruce Arena has been coach of the Galaxy since 2008, and his tenure has included three MLS Cups and an overall 125-70-79 record.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was named Tuesday the coach of the U.S. men's national soccer team, leaving the Galaxy to search for a new leader.

Arena has been coach of the Galaxy since 2008, and his tenure has included three MLS Cups and an overall 125-70-79 record.

"My time with the Galaxy has been among the most memorable and meaningful years in my entire career," Arena said. "I have been fortunate to work alongside an incredible staff and coach teams and players that have made me extremely proud. Together, we brought championships to the LA Galaxy and the city of Los Angeles. It is difficult to leave this great club, but I am excited for the opportunity to return as coach of the United States Men's National Team."

Galaxy officials said a search will begin immediately for a new head coach.
