REDONDO BEACH, CA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Aileen Berry who nominated Aaron Dahl of Redondo Beach. Berry is Dahl's parent and admired all the hard work he put into multiple aspects of his life.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Aaron strives to be excellent in all aspects of his life. Aaron plays soccer in the Elite Academy League. He works very hard both on and off the field. And is very talented and strong. He takes on a leadership role as captain of his last 2 teams. He has been nominated by his peers in school for awards in school for leadership and citizenship. He participates in Green team, cleaning up the community. He volunteers as a youth coach to help younger athletes during the summer. As well as coaching and reffing as TA at school. All while maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout middle school.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

That he's a great role model
