REDONDO BEACH, CA — What's better than eating pizza for a good cause? Locale90, a Redondo Beach Neapolitan pizza restaurant, created DIY pizza kits that will benefit local nonprofit Walk With Sally.

For each pizza kit sold from April 13 to April 19, Locale90 will donate one pizza kit to a Walk With Sally family. The pizza kits are available for pick-up and delivery, the Locale90 news release said.

All the pizza kits need are an oven and a baking sheet or pizza stone — the kit provides all the necessary ingredients, which are imported from Italy or locally sourced. Locale90's Neapolitan Pizza kit comes with four house-made dough balls that make four 12-inch pizzas, crushed San Marzano tomatoes, hand-pulled fresh mozzarella and imported parmesan cheese. The pizza kits cost $38 and feed a family of four to six, the news release said.

Walk With Sally families are among the most vulnerable to the coronavirus as they may have a family member who is immunocompromised due to cancer, the news release said. Locale90 has committed to donating up to 100 pizza kits, which will be delivered to Walk With Sally families in the upcoming weeks.

Walk With Sally provides individualized mentoring and community support services for children experiencing trauma through a parent, guardian or sibling’s cancer journey. The nonprofit believes "no child should walk alone in the face of a loved one’s cancer journey," the news release said. For more information on Walk With Sally, visit their website.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
