Police To Heavily Enforce Exhaust Violations In Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Redondo Beach police will focus more heavily on enforcing exhaust violations this month, department officials said.

Coinciding with the department's Drive Slow Redondo campaign, the Redondo Beach Police Department has declared January Modified Exhaust Month.

"Officers will enforce exhaust violations heavily to preserve the quality of life and public safety of the City of Redondo Beach," police said on Facebook.

Police said they would focus on violations of two specific vehicle codes:

  • Vehicle code 27150 requires vehicles to be equipped with an adequate muffler that is in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent excessive noise.
  • Vehicle code 27151 dictates that the exhaust system of a car cannot be modified in order to increase the noise emitted by the motor.
