Power Cut For Over 11,000 Redondo Beach Residents: SCE

More than 11,000 people to lose power in Redondo Beach Tuesday morning, Southern California Edison said.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — An error on Southern California Edison's website reported more than 11,000 people in Redondo Beach lost power Tuesday morning while crews updated equipment, according to officials.

Approximately 11,062 customers experienced the power outage, the website reported. The outage was a planned maintenance outage, and SCE spokesperson Gabriella Ornelas said the outage only actually affected about 76 people.

The outage began at about 9 a.m. in the area near Redondo Union High School.

As of 9: 30 a.m. crews were actively working on the upgrades. SCE estimated that the outage would be fully restored by 6 p.m.

"We recognize that temporary outages can be inconvenient and appreciate your patience. Upgrading and modernizing our grid reflects the way customers are changing the way they use electricity and remains an important part of our vision to keep your electricity flowing reliably, now and in the future," SCE said on their website.
