REDONDO BEACH, CA — Many parents have already begun back-to-school planning for their Redondo Beach students as summer break winds down.

The first day of school in Redondo Beach Unified School District is Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on the calendar:

• Labor Day: Sept. 2
• Local holiday: Oct. 3
• Professional Development Day: Nov. 1
• Election Day: Nov. 5
• Veteran's Day: Nov. 11
• Thanksgiving break: Nov. 25-29
• Winter break: Dec 23 - Jan. 3
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Jan. 20
• Semester Break: Jan. 27
• Local holiday: Feb. 14
• Presidents Day: Feb. 17
• Trimester break: March 14
• Spring break: April 7-11
• Memorial Day: May 26
• Last day: June 11
