RBUSD To Vote On Appointment Of New Superintendent

The vote to appoint Nicole Wesley as Superintendent of Schools will take place at the RBUSD Board of Education meeting on Oct. 11.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Redondo Beach Unified School District announced the Board of Education would vote to appoint Nicole Wesley as Superintendent of Schools to replace outgoing Superintendent Steven Keller.

“I am honored and humbled to serve as the new Superintendent of Schools for RBUSD" Wesley said in a statement. "I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our Board of Education for this exceptional opportunity. When I began as an assistant principal in 2004, I learned Redondo Beach is a remarkable place to learn, work, and live. Team RBUSD and I are 'all in' on continuing to lead our students, families, teachers, staff, and community partners to build upon our many successes.”

The vote will take place on Oct.11 at the regularly scheduled Board meeting. The appointment would become effective on Jan. 1. 2023.

Wesley earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, her Master's degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA.

She is currently working as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at RBUSD. Wesley's past experience in RBUSD includes Executive Director of Student Services, principal of Redondo Union High School, principal of Adams Middle School and assistant principal at RUHS.

Wesley is a proud resident of Redondo Beach and her daughter attends Parras Middle School.

“Dr. Wesley has the experience, intellect, and drive to take RBUSD to the next level," RBUSD Board President David Witkin said in a statement. "She has been a remarkable leader while serving as an administrator in RBUSD for the past eighteen years. She knows RBUSD well and will start from day one with a deep understanding of the district’s successes and areas of growth."

The district will host a meet-and-greet for students, parents, staff and the community to meet Wesley at a future date.
