REDONDO BEACH, CA — Independence Day is just around the corner, meaning the Firecracker 5K race is returning to Redondo Beach this summer.

On July 3rd, runners will hit the bricks to participate in the annual 5-kilometer run/walk. While the race is set to being at 8 a.m., crews will begin closing streets around 4 a.m., the Redondo Beach Police Department said in a release.

Race participants have until midnight on Wednesday to register for the Firecracker 5k. All runners will receive a tee-shirt, and winners will receive cash prizes.
