"We are all deeply saddened by today's tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, and our hearts go out to the victims of this senseless act of violence," Bridi said. "Our counselors and school psychologists are available if your child is experiencing any fear or anxiety or are in need of coping support as they return to school. The safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority."

Bridi pointed to the preparedness procedures the school has practiced for an emergency or crisis situation.

RUHS has partnered with the police department for a campus safety drill known as "Run, Hide, Fight" over the last four years.

"Please partner with us and take a moment to remind and encourage your student to follow staff instructions, listen attentively to directions and details, practice ways to remain calm, and have a plan to run, hide, and reconnect with you, should there be a need."

Students can expect to see additional presence and visibility of police around campus over the next few days, he added.

"These policies are in place to keep our children safe," Bridi said. " Working together as partners will result in a stronger, more resilient school community."
