REDONDO BEACH, CA — A Redondo Union High School assistant swim coach told reporters he was instructed to resign after he informed authorities of inappropriate behavior involving another coach toward a student, according to a report from Easy Reader News.

According to the report, coaches Sean Masi and Rachel Pinto were approached by a junior student who said attention from another male coach was causing her stress and making her uncomfortable. Over the course of about a month, Masi said many other students expressed concern about the other male coach's behavior and told him they don't feel safe on deck.

As mandated reporters, youth coaches are required to report any suspected child mistreatment within 36 hours. However, when Masi reported the alleged inappropriate behavior of the other coach, he said RUHS administrators instructed him to resign.

School administrators investigated the allegations, according to the report. The investigation produced no substantial evidence of emotional or sexual abuse, an email sent to swimmers and parents concluded.

"The allegations that contributed to this were promptly and thoroughly investigated by RUHS administration," RUHS Principal Anthony Bridi wrote in the email. "Please be assured that the matter has been addressed and resolved."
