Safety Commission To Address Redondo Break-Ins, Robberies And Shooting

The Redondo Beach Public Safety Commission will discuss recent crimes in the community which include retail theft and 16 robbers on e-bikes.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Redondo Beach Public Safety Commission will meet Monday to discuss public safety issues, including a string of recent robberies and burglaries in the city.

At Monday night's regular meeting, which is open to the public and live-streamed, commissioners will also discuss the police volunteer program.

Specifically on the agenda, commissioners will hear about notable crimes in the city over the last month. According to the Redondo Police Department, those include:

  • A break-in in which a suspect attempted to enter an occupied home by smashing a window with a hammer before fleeing July 3rd at North Francisca Avenue;
  • A burglary in which someone entered a home by removing a rear glass door from its frame June 30 at Fisk Lane;
  • A robbery involving 16 juveniles on e-bikes, who robbed a person walking along Catalina Avenue on June 17;
  • A violent robbery in which armed robbers pulled a gun on a cyclist at Beryl Street and PCH June 15;
  • A shooting in which suspects followed victims to their hotel room on PCH June 18 and fired a round at the door as it closed;
  • Several retail thefts, stolen vehicles and the theft of catalytic converters.

Monday's meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 415 Diamond Street.
