REDONDO BEACH, CA — Due to unforeseen necessary maintenance, Redondo Beach officials have closed Seaside Lagoon for the day Monday, July 17.

According to Michelle Pinedo, Recreation Supervisor for the city, there was an issue with one of the pumps that brings water into the lagoon. Crews were unsure if the problem would be fixed by opening time so they made the decision to close the lagoon, Pinedo said.

"Staff has attempted to the best of their ability to inform all reservations," the city said on Facebook.

Those who signed up for the city-hosted Beach Camp will run on-site but will not have access to the water. Adjustments have been arranged and the city sent emails to families who are participating in the camp.

The lagoon should be functioning fully by Tuesday, Pinedo said.
