LAWNDALE, CA — A man who deputies said repeatedly threw a cat to the ground until it died in Lawndale was arrested on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

According to the Sheriff's Department, 27-year-old Rogelio Diaz is suspected of taking another person's cat from their driveway on April 5 and killing it. The crime happened at about 3:10 p.m. in the 4900 block of Marine Avenue near the border of Redondo Beach, LASD said.

Detectives believe this was not an isolated incident based on the nature of the crime and additional evidence and are seeking additional victims.

Diaz was arrested on April 11 and is currently being held with no bail, authorities said.
