Teenage Boy Killed In PCH Motorcycle Crash

The boy was rushed to a hospital where he died Wednesday, and the crash shut down Pacific Coast Highway.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A teenager was killed in a motorcycle crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach Wednesday afternoon after colliding with another vehicle.

The boy was traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway when he collided with a vehicle making a turn at the Carnelian Street intersection shortly after 2 p.m., according to the Redondo Beach Police Department Lt. Corey King.

Several witnesses called to police to report the crash, and authorities arrived to find the unresponsive boy lying in the street, said King.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The woman driving the other vehicle remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with police, according to King. Detectives are continuing to piece together what happened, but drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash.

Authorities are withholding the boy's name pending notification of his relatives.

The collision shut down the intersection as police investigated the crash scene. The Redondo Beach Police Department Fatal Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation.
