2 Stabbed In Bloody Rohnert Park Altercation: 1 In Critical Condition

Two men were stabbed Monday night in a Rohnert Park apartment during a bloody struggle, according to local authorities.

ROHNERT PARK, CA - Two men were stabbed Monday night inside a Rohnert Park apartment during a bloody struggle, according to local authorities.

Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety authorities say officers responded at 9:28 p.m. to a report of a man outside a Kirsten Ct. apartment who had been stabbed in the neck.

DPS officers say when they arrived, they found a neighbor in the rear alleyway of the apartments trying to stop "profuse" bleeding coming from the man's neck by using his shirt.

Public Safety officials say the victim’s 26-year-old roommate, who was also present, stated the two had been in their apartment with 23-year-old Justin Goularte of Rohnert Park.

The roommate told police that while in the apartment, Goularte suddenly grabbed him and allegedly stabbed him in the arm with a knife. The man told police his roommate tried to intervene while Goularte was attacking him, and that was when Goularte allegedly stabbed his roommate in the neck.

Rohnert Park authorities say they found Goularte inside the victims’ apartment covered in blood, displaying "signs of severe drug intoxication."

DPS officials say both stabbed roommates were transported to an area hospital.

Authorities say the man stabbed in the neck is in critical condition at this time. The roommate was treated and released.

Goularte was also transported to the hospital due to his condition, according to DPS officials, who say he told them the two stabbing victims had attacked him, so he "stabbed them in self-defense."

DPS authorities say Goularte was taken into custody after being treated at the hospital, and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Public Safety detectives say the investigation into the stabbing of the two victims is ongoing, and the victims will not be identified at this time due to the active investigation.
