5 Teens Arrested In Deadly Stabbing Near San Diego Trolley Station

SAN DIEGO, CA — Five teenagers were arrested on suspicion of murder after a deadly stabbing at a San Diego trolley station, authorities said.

The stabbing happened shortly after 4 p.m. Friday at 3200 Imperial Ave. in the Logan Heights neighborhood of San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.

"The victim, initially described as Hispanic and in his late teens, had a verbal interaction with the five suspects at the 32nd and Commercial trolley platform," Lt. Jud Campbell said. "When the victim walked down the stairs to Imperial Avenue, the group followed, confronted and stabbed the victim with an unknown weapon."

Officers found the victim suffering from at least one stab wound near the sidewalk, Campbell said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His identity was not released.

The suspects, only described as Hispanic, were found and arrested around 5:45 p.m. at 4700 Spring St. in La Mesa, Campbell said. They were booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of murder.

Their identities were not released. One of the suspects is 17 years old, one is 16 years old, and the other three are 15 years old, Campbell said.
