San Diego County Board Of Education Searches For New Superintendent

SAN DIEGO, CA — Community members have a chance to weigh in on the search for the next superintendent of schools for San Diego County.

After Superintendent Paul Gothold announced his plans to retire in June 2024, the San Diego County Board of Education hired the firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates to help search for a new superintendent.

The board is hosting a community forum to gather input from educational partners and parents Monday at the San Diego County Office of Education's Linda Vista campus.

"As we look for the next leader of the County Office of Education, we want to gather feedback from educational partners regarding what they would like to see in their next superintendent," Board President Rick Shea said. "We hope to hear from representative voices from communities throughout the 42 districts we serve countywide."

The forum will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Linda Vista campus at 6401 Linda Vista Road. In addition, an online survey is available in English and Spanish to gather input through Dec. 22.

The San Diego County Office of Education directly educates more than 3,000 students at over 20 sites each year and provides support services to more than 500,000 students across 42 school districts.
