SDSU Mission Valley Housing Developments Green Lit By CSU Board

The seven-story, 186-unit affordable housing project will be built on the northeastern portion of the SDSU Mission Valley site.

SAN DIEGO — The California State University Board of Trustees approved the development of affordable housing and residential and retail projects at SDSU Mission Valley Wednesday, Nov. 8.

The seven-story, 186-unit affordable housing project will be built on the northeastern portion of the SDSU Mission Valley site. The 184 affordable housing units, ranging from one to four bedrooms, will target households with incomes averaging 50% of the area median income, according to the university.

The other two units are manger units.

The project will also include a 6,220-square-foot child care center operated by Episcopal Community Services, community resource rooms, a media center, outdoor lounge spaces and bike storage rooms with electric vehicle charging stations.

The residential and retail project will consist of 621 apartments and 30,000 square feet of leasable ground-floor retail space, including a grocery store, the university announced.

Construction is expected to begin in March 2025.
