CHULA VISTA, CA — Sesame Place San Diego is taking another step to make sure all families can share in the magic of Sesame Street. Starting Saturday, the Chula Vista-based theme park will host American Sign Language Saturdays.

The new program will feature a certified ASL interpreter stationed at the park's Storytime with Friends and Sesame Street Theater shows on the third Saturday of every month. The program aims to further support deaf and hard-of-hearing community members visiting the park. Sesame Place already offers complimentary ASL interpreters every day upon advance request and provides scripts for select presentations.

The addition of ASL Saturdays continues the park's commitment to inclusivity and expands accessibility offerings, said Genaro Castro, vice president of Sesame Place San Diego.

He noted that Sesame Place was the first theme park in San Diego to open as a Certified Autism Center. As a Certified Autism Center, Sesame Place provides training to staff and on-site accommodations such as quiet rooms to ensure every visitor, including those with sensory sensitivities, can enjoy the park.

"We are dedicated to creating an environment where all families can share in the magic of Sesame Street, ensuring that every visit is inclusive and memorable," Castro told Patch.
