MARIN COUNTY, CA — Inverness in western Marin County is one of 11 California communities selected to receive state funds through the Small Community Drought Relief Program, according to an announcement this week from the California Department of Water Resources.

The Inverness Public Utility District is struggling to meet demand due to three leaking redwood tanks and a failing steel tank, according to the state's announcement. The tank is currently losing more than 3 million gallons of treated water annually due to the leaks.

The district will receive $1.2 million to replace the tanks and secure the community's water supply.
Ten other communities in the state will divvy up the remainder of a $10 million fund, the 10th round of funding the program has delivered.
