MARIN COUNTY, CA — An embattled Marin administrator has been cleared of sexual harassment allegations, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

Sausalito Marin City School District Superintendent Itoco Garcia was investigated by the Marin County Office of Education, according to the report.

Robert Henry, who serves as legal counsel to the county education office, confirmed that Garcia had contact with the complainant, but said there was insufficient evidence to prove wrongdoing occurred during the encounters, The IJ reports.

Garcia’s behavior under investigation “did not rise to the level of sexual harassment as defined by law,” Henry told the news outlet.

The status of the district’s top administrator nevertheless remains uncertain.

Garcia is the target of an online petition calling for his resignation, and district teachers are backing the petition, The IJ reports.
