SAN RAFAEL, CA — Investigators in San Rafael are searching for a man accused of assaulting a group of girls at the Northgate Mall and fleeing into Terra Linda.

Officers arrived at the mall around 5 p.m. Monday, where the girls reported a man had approached them and inappropriately touched one of their arms. Police said one girl hid while others tried to take photos of the man. One girl reported the man forcibly knocked her phone from her hand, damaging it, before running away.

Police asked neighbors to stay in their homes as they searched the neighborhood with help from a Marin Count drone. Descriptions provided by the victim helped police identify a suspect as Enoch Christian Cupples, 33, police said. He was last seen wearing orange sunglasses, a black sweatshirt and khaki pants.
