Marin Braces For Rare September Storm: NWS
Up to three inches of rain is expected to fall in parts of Marin, according to the National Weather Service.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A rare September storm is expected to bring rain the Bay Area desperately needs, and the best and brightest forecasters are as surprised as you.
“We’ve actually got rain in the forecast, and it’s an amazing thing,” NWS Meteorologist Brian Garcia said in a video the agency posted on social media.
The North Bay is expected to see the heaviest rainfall, with the NWS forecasting models estimating between two to three inches of the wet stuff is expected to fall in Marin around Mount Tamalpais and along the Sonoma Coast.

The South Bay, East Bay and Peninsula regions are expected to see between a half inch up to two inches of rainfall.
The NWS has not yet issued an advisory but the agency is urging motorists to drive with caution as the first rainfall in months is expected to produce slippery road conditions.

The storm is expected to peak Sunday afternoon, Garcia said.
