Marin Catholic, San Marin Win NCS Titles, Advance To State

San Marin trounced Del Norte 36-0 to win NCS Div. V championship, and Marin Catholic topped Cardinal Newman 42-7 in Div. IV title game.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Two Marin prep football teams are headed to the state championships.

San Marin and Marin Catholic each won North Coast Section football championships last week, and both were selected to advance to California Interscholastic Federation regional bowl games.

San Marin (12-1), which blanked Del Norte 36-0 in Friday’s NCS Division V championship game, will play Sutter (Sutter County) Friday at 7:30 p.m. at River Valley High of Yuba City (Sutter County) in the Division V-AA title game.

Marin Catholic (12-1) defeated Cardinal Newman 42-7 in Friday’s Division IV title game. The Wildcats will play Escalon (Catalina Island) Friday at 7:30 p.m. at San Rafael High in the Division IV-A title game.

Sutter (10-1) is led by senior quarterback Trevor Eck, who in 10 games threw for 14 touchdowns and 1,108 yards.

Escalon (12-1) is led by sophomore quarterback Donovon Rozevink, who threw for 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns through 12 games.
