MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Registrar of Voters has certified the results of Marin's March 5 primary election after tallying more than 90,000 ballots, officials announced Wednesday.

In addition to selecting presidential contenders, voters in several parts of the county also voted on local measures.

According to the county, 90,757 ballots were cast among Marin's 169,893 registered voters, amounting to just over 53 percent turnout. That figure is a few points ahead of the 2022 primary while falling short of 2020's record. Marin surpassed the statewide average by more than 20 percent.

Even with the primary sorted ahead of schedule, the Elections Department is already looking ahead to what is expected to be a much busier November.

"This was a very smooth presidential primary election and, thanks to our hard-working team, we were able to certify the election a week earlier than anticipated," said Lynda Roberts, the Registrar of Voters. "As for turnout in November, we anticipate a turnout close to the 2020 general election, which was over 90%."
