Marin County Fair Announces 2019 Theme

The 2019 Marin County Fair will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing with the theme "Over the Moon."

SAN RAFAEL, CA – The 2019 Marin County Fair will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing with the theme "Over the Moon" from July 3-7 at the Marin County Fairgrounds in San Rafael.

Returning fair classics include traditional carnival rides, free concerts and fireworks every night over the Civic Center's Lagoon Park. The fair's headlining music acts will be announced in the spring.

Themed exhibit categories will include decorated moons and paper moons, while the photography categories will include moonscapes. There will be innovative makers projects, baked goods, culinary contests, fine art and much more.

"We developed the theme as an opportunity to honor the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon, but also to showcase the feeling the fair evokes from our entire community," said Gabriella C. Calicchio, director of cultural services.

"Celebrating art, agriculture, and community are values we hold near and dear and we are literally 'over the moon' with excitement in the planning for the 2019 fair."
